Galliford Try led the Wixams Retirement Village project from start to finish, with NRA Roofing and Marley working together for the installation and manufacture of roofing products respectively. Marley products were supplied by Browns Builders Merchants.
Key reasons for the specification of Marley Edgemere and Marley concrete plain tiles included the cost-competitiveness of the tiles as well as the visual appeal and product attributes which would make the installation process quicker and more efficient – this being something that was also factored into NRA Roofing’s costings for the project.
Each of the Edgemere slates are approximately 40% thinner than standard concrete interlocking tiles and require only 9.7 tiles per square metre. This allows for a far quicker and efficient installation process for roofing contractors, considerably reducing the time spent working at height. The slate-like look of the tiles also allows for end-customers to benefit from the professional slate-look while simultaneously enjoying the cost-competitiveness of concrete.
Due to the curved nature of the roof and accessibility to it, the ease of installation for the Marley Edgemere tiles proved to be a game changer in the Wixams Retirement Village project. Considerable hours working at height were cut due to the ability of rapid installation, reducing safety risks on-site and also allowing for a reduced reliance on expensive plant. Provided with a 15 year guarantee, the tiles also offer NRA Roofing and Galliford Try a solution with increased assurances on longevity and provide a long-term solution to the end-client.
